Germany vs Japan
World Cup 2022
Date: Wednesday, 23 November 2022
Kick-off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Khalifa International Stadium.

Germany are not used to experiencing World Cup failure. They won’t reflect on their 2018 experience when they face Japan in 2022 as they prepare for their opener.

Since the start of the century, Germany has been one of the most successful teams in the world of football. They have reached the semi-final or better in four of the five tournaments they’ve participated in.

Four years ago, Germany was the defending champions but lost to South Korea and Mexico in the group stage.

It was the first time since 1950 that Germany failed to reach the knockout stage of the tournament.

Only defender Niklas Sule has ever appeared in a World Cup final. He was not eager to experience it again following the team’s loss to South Korea.

Japan has only won one of its last eight World Cup matches. However, their sole victory came in their opening game against Colombia.

Despite their numerous international appearances, Japan has never advanced past the second round of the tournament.

Germany vs. Japan Prediction ;

Germany will be eager to start their campaign with a victory over Spain, as both of them are in the same boat. The Germans are also hoping to join Brazil as the most successful teams in the world football league.

After qualifying through the group stage, the Germans are expected to have a relatively easy time against Japan. Also, the Asian nation might be considered a heavyweight in the tournament, but this match will be different.

The fact that Japan has a poor h2h record against Germany will also make things even worse for the Asian nation.

The four-time champions are expected to win easily at the Khalifa International.

All eyes will be on Thomas Muller as he tries to overtake Miroslav Klose as the all-time leading goal-scorer in the World Cup. Muller, who is currently with Bayern Munich, needs six more goals to reach the top spot.

Germany vs. Japan Team news :

The pre-World Cup talk about Germany centered on Marco Reus, who suffered a cruel injury setback and will not be able to play in the tournament. This is the third time he has been forced out of a major tournament due to injury.

Although Leroy Sane is not expected to play in the tournament, Germany should have a fully fit squad for the opening match against the Netherlands on June 14. Some of the players who are expected to be available include Niclas Fullkrug, Thomas Muller, and Antonio Rudiger.

After being exiled from the national team, Muller is back and determined to establish a record for the most goals and assists by a German player in a single World Cup tournament.

Wataru Endo and Karou Mitoma, who were both suffering from head injuries, were able to overcome their issues and join the Japan squad. Also, Hidemasa Morita of Sporting Lisbon is expected to be ready to play after recovering from a calf injury.

Takeshi Tomiyasu, who is a right-back for the Japanese national team, was rested from the match against Canada due to a muscular issue. However, he is expected to be ready to play against the Netherlands.

With the wide variety of attacking options available in the Japanese national team, it is believed that Takuma Asano will be able to make a name for himself in the tournament.

Germany possible starting lineup:

Neuer; Kehrer, Sule, Rudiger, Raum; Kimmich, Gundogan; Hofmann, Musiala, Gnabry; Muller

Japan possible starting lineup:

Gonda; Sakai, Tomiyasu, Yoshida, Nagatomo; Morita, Endo, Kamada; Ito, Asano, Minamino
