Manchester City will be looking to keep Liverpool on their toes at the summit of the Premier League table when they travel to Merseyside to lock horns with the Reds’ bitter rivals Everton on Saturday.

Since suffering an unexpected 3-2 reversal against Norwich City a fortnight ago, the reigning English champions have won three successive fixtures with an aggregate scoreline of 14-0, including the 8-0 mauling of Watford last weekend and a midweek League Cup victory over Preston.

Meanwhile, Everton have stagnated in recent weeks, losing back-to-back league games at the hands of Bournemouth and Sheffield United, meaning a third consecutive defeat could pile serious pressure on the shoulders of Marco Silva.

Team news

Everton

Andre Gomes hasn’t featured since the 3-2 win over Wolves at the start of this month and remains out due to a rib injury, while summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin will continue his rehabilitation on the sidelines with a quadricep problem.

Predicted XI: Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne; Delph, Schneiderlin; Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin.

Man City

Centre-back duo Aymeric Laporte and John Stones continue treatment for a knee and thigh injury respectively, while Leroy Sane remains out with a knee injury of his own.

Predicted XI: Ederson; Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Mendy; Rodri, David Silva, De Bruyne; Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Aguero.
