Senegal vs Netherlands
FIFA World Cup
Date: 21 November 2022, Monday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 17:00 CET
Venue: Al Thumama Stadium (Doha).

The Netherlands and Senegal, two relatively unknown teams at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will face off on Monday. They are in Group A alongside Colombia and Qatar, and it’s the tournament’s group stage opener. Despite the absence of Sadio Mane, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury, the Senegal squad features some of the tournament’s top talents, such as Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy.

Senegal and the Netherlands are both regarded as dark horses in the tournament, and both of them are expected to perform well. The former made it to the quarterfinals in 2014 and was eliminated in 2018. This is the Dutch team’s different side from the one that failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Senegal vs Netherlands Prediction :

The Netherlands are the favorites to win this tournament. They have shown that they can compete against the best in the Nations League, most recently defeating Belgium and Poland.

Since Sadio Mane will not be participating for Senegal, we think that the Netherlands will win this tournament. At 2.37, we like the Oranje to beat the Africans by a score of 2 to 0.

Senegal vs Netherlands Team News :

Sadio Mane has withdrawn from Senegal’s squad due to a broken fibula. He will require surgery and will be replaced by a host of players. Some of these include Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye, Bamba Dieng, and Krepin Diatta.

In addition, RB Leipzig’s Abdou Diallo might not be able to play in Senegal’s opening match at the World Cup due to a knee injury. Diatta, on the other hand, has the potential to win the battle due to his trickery and pace.

The Netherlands will be missing some of its attacking weapons due to injuries. Memphis Depay, who scored 12 goals during the qualification process for the World Cup, will not be able to play in the tournament due to a hamstring issue. The Barcelona forward has not played for his club or country since September.

Another injury concern is Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, who was forced off during the team’s match against Atalanta in Italy’s top division. Marten de Roon is also unlikely to be available due to a back issue.

Although Vincent Janssen and Jeremie Frimpong are likely to start, Louis van Gaal may utilize a three-man central midfield with Steven Bergwijn and Cody Gakpo as a front two.

Senegal possible starting lineup:

E. Mendy; Sabaly, Cisse, Koulibaly, Ballo-Toure; Kouyate, N. Mendy, I. Gueye; I. Sarr, Dia, Diatta

Netherlands possible starting lineup:

Pasveer; Timber, Van Dijk, Ake; Frimpong, F. De Jong, Koopmeiners, Blind; Klaassen; Gakpo, Bergwijn
