On Saturday, WBA featherweight champion Leigh Wood will defend his title against the hard-hitting Mauricio Lara at the Nottingham Arena. The fight will be his second defense against a tough opponent after he defeated Michael Conlan. A victory for the Nottingham fighter could lead to him facing either Luis Alberto Lopez or Emanuel Navarette in the future.
Lara and Lopez have already defeated fighters from the same region, namely Josh Warrington. Despite losing his title, the former champion from Yorkshire is still expected to fight Wood in the future.

This fight features two of the best hardcore fighters in the world, and it will be an action-packed bout. The main event features a young Lara against a seasoned Wood. Although both are 10 years older, the age difference doesn’t seem to matter as Lara doesn’t have a lot of athletic ability and Wood has plenty of hand speed.
The main factor that will determine the fight’s outcome is the power of Lara against Wood’s ability to hit straight. If Lara can land a big punch early, he’ll be much less likely to let Wood get away from him, as he did against Conlan. Sanchez also showed that Lara has weaknesses in his body, and this could prove to be a problem for him throughout the fight.
The fight features a variety of skills and vulnerabilities, and it should be a great match-up. Lara’s face-first style and power will allow him to land several clean shots on Wood’s chin.
